Emancipation Deed
(by parental consent) from $300
Service Description
Emancipation is the act by which a minor is "released from parental authority" and acquires rights normally granted to adults. These rights include, among others, the right to represent themselves in court, manage their assets as they wish, take out loans independently, apply for housing, and marry. The requirements for emancipation by parental consent are: a. The person to be emancipated must be at least 18 years old; b. The person granting the emancipation must have parental authority over the minor; and c. The parent and the minor must declare their intention through a public instrument executed before a notary. The emancipation granted by the parent with parental authority must be recorded in the civil registry to be effective against third parties. Required documents: a. Birth Certificate b. Valid photo ID of the parent with legal guardianship and the minor. Services included: 1. Unlimited consultation on the matter. 2. Preparation of the Emancipation Deed. 3. Follow-up on the process from beginning to end. 4. Signing and execution of the Public Deed of Emancipation. To reserve your appointment, a non-refundable consultation fee is required. If you retain the Notary, this fee will be credited towards the cost of the Deed.
